As we celebrate 20 years of ministry and mission as a church, we asked the church to share some testimonies of how the Lord has been at work as they have engaged in life at Crosspoint.
Be encouraged by what Kurt and Carol Smeltzer share below…
Some memories and things we are thankful for at Crosspoint over the last 20 years
Church plant from New Life Christian Church – How God designed our Leadership
Began with the youth pastor from New Life, Jeff H. becoming lead pastor at Crosspoint and Erik Johnson becoming worship team/youth pastor.
Then, Dave Steinbeck being called and stepping into lead pastor role. So grateful for his leadership, encouragement he gives, and faithfulness to follow God’s leading at Crosspoint and in His life.
Then, later Erik Johnson being called and stepping into lead pastor role at a church plant, Redeemer Community Church.
Also thankful for our elders and leadership team as they are faithful in prayer and committed to their leadership role and the Crosspoint family.
So cool seeing young kids/youth that are adults now step into leadership and serving roles!
So thankful for Becky W. as God has definitely given her the gift of encouragement and has many times shared encouraging words at just the right time over the years.
Faithful love of Jesus on display/Life in Community
Several times over the years our small group has provided meals during a family members extensive hospital stay to help ease the burden of mealtime.
Our small group has been So faithful in prayers, seen so many prayers answered over the years. God is Good!
Saw a miracle healing of one of our children who was having extreme pain while walking for about a week. One Sunday, the SonChasers class prayed over him. He told us on the car ride home that he was healed and then we saw it with our own eyes. Wow! Thank you, Jesus!
Seeing lots in the church family come to hospital to be there to pray with/for Kevin & Kristi Funk after an accident had occurred. Love to see Kevin & Kristi’s continued faithfulness to God and their commitment to leading small group.
Service from church family helping out others needs
Men’s group serving landscaping needs of some people in the church family
Helping Lavonne Funk move to a new house, so many helped out
Helping Johnson’s with their move to start new church plant
Stepped in with Jamie Goveia and a team of women to help get women’s ministry started.
Then stepped out to lead a women’s bible study. So glad I took that step of obedience and have grown so much in my faith and trust in God. I have also made so many good friendships with women that are prayer warriors and truly love Jesus. Have seen God move and answer many prayers over the past few years. I enjoy seeing these women grow in their relationship with God.
Each Sunday: appreciate the reminders to the body to get in the word daily, not just a Sunday thing. Also, the gentle reminders to bring bibles to church and offer them to keep if someone needs one.
First time ever, a couple years ago, we read through the bible reading plan in a year. Was able to commit to this through encouragement from the pastors and through others in the church family also doing the same plan.
When we were a mobile church, loved the team effort and set up teams. Built so many good relationships with our set up team. Appreciated how there were needs & some would just jump in and fill those needs.
VBS seeing our kids enjoy attending it and 2 of them accepting Christ. Then, as they got older still wanted to participate in VBS. We still as adults love to help out with VBS, it helps us feel young (LOL) and also love to see the excitement in the children about following Jesus!
Some other random memories:
When you call 911 on a payphone, it actually works, the firetrucks will show up. This happened several times at the Eureka Middle School services (No this was not a Smeltzer boy)
One other family with 4 kids in the church family, we took turns babysitting each other’s kids they all would come over to one house and the next month at the other family’s house. As the kids got older, we even did a couple overnights so mom and dad could have some extended time together. Such sweet memories of these special fun times.
