Hopeful, Encouraged, and Resting

In the past month, I’ve had some folks ask me questions along the lines of… “Are you worried about the capital campaign?” I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of brothers and sisters in Christ to ask. Here’s my answer…I’m not anxious about it. I find my heart very hopeful, encouraged, and resting in our triune’s God’s love for His church. In conversations with the staff and elders, I sense the same posture.

I totally get why friends would ask questions such as those. Thinking things such as…what if a campaign causes conflict, or what if people fight about the color of the carpet, or what if a certain amount is not raised, or what if… (by the way…I don’t believe at all that this season will cause conflict, but rather a deepening love and unity. And the Lord has always taken care of His people and His church, for His faithful love endures forever.)

The what if’s of life (and we all have these in our personal lives) are to lead us not toward worried and fearful living, but to look to our Father in Heaven who knows what we need. For He is sovereign, able, and altogether good, and is always faithful to His children.

In 1 John 4, we’re reminded that perfect love (displayed in the gospel) drives out fear. Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:19-35, are such a great encouragement to us, in all of life, including this season at Crosspoint. We’re commanded not to worry about tomorrow, but to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, resting in the truth that the Father knows what we need.

I was talking with a friend this last week and sharing how sweet and encouraging the past several years have been in and around Crosspoint. What He has begun in us, He is faithful to continue and finish. What a gift of grace it is to seek to live with great faith, hope and love alongside the Father’s family.

Let us remain in His love, and He will bear the fruit. Love you all.
