“Since going public with our faith, we have seen God at work in our lives in a tremendous way”

As we celebrate 20 years of ministry and mission as a church, we asked the church to share some testimonies of how the Lord has been at work as they have engaged in life at Crosspoint.

Be encouraged by what Kevin and Kristi Funk share below…

KRISTI

Hello Everyone my name is Kristi Funk and this is my husband Kevin Funk.

We have called our home Crosspoint for just over 19 years.

Crosspoint to us is a beautiful picture of biblical Community.

After Dave Steinbeck, called me every week for weeks on end I finally agreed to attend my first community group.

It’s the best decision that I have ever made and my family tree is changed because of it.

Since we have been here we have consistently attended or led a Community Group.

This is where most of our growth has occurred.

By God’s grace, over the past several years, I have learned how to love deeply and to forgive well.

Growing up I did not have much of this in my home.

Having the women of this church walk beside me during the ups and downs of life has brought me closer to God.

KEVIN

Since I started attending Crosspoint, I’ve had so many friendships that are truly meaningful. The brotherhood that I and others share through Christ is like none other. I seriously can’t count how many friends I’ve met and spiritually grown with since I’ve started attending.

Because of community groups, God has shown me how to care for and share one another’s burdens. He’s blessed us with many memories that are very precious to us.

A lot of these friends have come and gone over the 20 years but each one holds a special place in my heart. Kristi and I have learned so much from past groups and are excited for the current group we lead.

Kristi and I were both baptized at Crosspoint some years ago. Since going public with our faith, we have seen God at work in our lives in a tremendous way. Our BC lives (before Christ) are a stark contrast to the way we live today. All credit goes to our wonderful savior!

As the Holy Spirit continues to guide in shape us, he inspires, instructs, and encourages us to lead our group well.

Kristi and I want God to get all the glory and nothing less. We love our current group and can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.

If my dad were here today, he would tell you how much he loves you and how important a relationship with Jesus is. I used to tease my dad and say that he could have a conversation with a rock and it would be meaningful. On the day of his first stroke, I went down to the Springfield hospital and in the emergency room, he was talking to one of the nurses about Jesus. And he was doing this with a smile, because that’s what he did.

Love you dad….

Lastly, 18 years ago, Kevin and I witnessed the most beautiful picture of Christ centered community we could ever imagine.

After being victims of a violent crime on our wedding night, we needed our church family more than ever.

They showed up like you couldn’t believe!

We promised God that he would get all the glory through this tragedy .

We also promised to tell God’s story, and how he miraculously allowed us to live.

We don’t have time to talk about the details here right now, but as we fellowship after the service, please feel free to ask us. We would love to share what God has done.
