Evidences of God’s Grace: April-June 2025

On a weekly basis in our Sunday program, we share evidences of God’s grace and work in the life of Crosspoint and our community.  Below, are the evidences (April-June 2025) collected into one post. May these lead us to an attitude of thankfulness to and worship of our God who is at work, not only through us, but in us.  You can read past evidences here.

Earlier this year, a Crosspointer shared this testimony, “Our First Impression teams are a good growing instrument for learning to know people, welcome them, and give the first impression of the love of this church from our Lord to new people and members alike. I am blessed to be part of that ministry for many years.”  Interested in serving in this ministry? Reach out to Pastor Dave Steinbeck.

How encouraging it is to hear Crosspointers, of all ages and stages of life, read Scripture in our Sunday gatherings and share testimony of how the Lord is at work in their lives.  When stories are shared, it reminds us of how our God of grace and truth is active in His people, and how His Word never returns empty!  This is the Word of the Lord, thanks be to God!

Last month, we heard of a Crosspointer seeking to worship well in his workplace. He has had a growing desire to listen to and trust the Spirit while at work, and be an ambassador for Christ.  In response to the Spirit’s leading, he had the opportunity to engage a customer who had recently lost their spouse of several years and pray for them. Praise God for His people who are desiring to be His hands and feet in all of life.

During the week of VBS, we will continually see evidence of God’s grace at work.  We see it in the servants that gather to show and tell of the love of Jesus and His Good News.  We see it in the children who will walk in our doors.  We see it in the creativity of the team as they transform the building into a fun and inviting environment.  We see it in the ways the Word goes out!  May the Lord cause the growth through the faithful planting and watering of the gospel (1 Corinthians 3).

Earlier in May (read the email here: https://bit.ly/PNG2025), we shared about a unique opportunity we have to send a team to put on a missions conference in Papua New Guinea this fall (for our Ethnos360 friends). We rejoice in how the Lord has formed a small team of willing servants: Dave and Jessica Wolfe, Micah and Becky Williamson, Eric Pigman, Phil Hostetler, and Ryan and Anna Kennell (and daughter, Hadassah).

We rejoice in the power of our God and His living and active Word. When His Word goes out, it never returns empty (Isaiah 55)! A Crosspointer shared this encouragement recently, “The sermon has given me courage and promises for what I am dealing with at home.  It’s the most encouragement I’ve had and felt in a long, long time.  God spoke through you to me and I feel His grace with an open heart. God is sooo good!”

5/18

How encouraging to hear of Crosspointers building relationships and prayerfully on mission toward those around them.  For instance, we have heard recently of a middle school student giving a Bible to a fellow student in their class, along with an encouraging notecard. We’ve also heard of a Crosspointer equipping a co-worker with a new CSB study Bible, after they were sharing about their desire to have a good Bible to read.

For over a year, we’ve been calling the church to a monthly day of prayer and fasting. This occurs on the third Thursday of the month (next one is this week, May 15). Each month, we choose a particular theme or focus, and it has been so encouraging to see the people of God lean into this opportunity to express our dependence upon the Lord. May the Lord’s faithfulness be revealed through answered prayer.

This spring, we began financially supporting the Eureka Area Food Pantry on a monthly basis. It is a joy to partner together alongside other local churches and the broader community in the support of this key ministry.  The food pantry serves the people of District 140 school district. In 2024, they averaged serving 110 adults and 59 children each month.  May the Lord bless the ministry of the food pantry and those who they serve.

4/27

Recently a Crosspointer shared this, “I have really connected with two other women from church.  We’ve been doing short Bible study plans and talk every day. They have been a huge blessing to me, especially on days when I can lean on them.” How encouraging to see the people of God moving toward one another as family, and letting the word of Christ dwell richly among them (Colossians 3:16)

4/20

How encouraging to see 12 Crosspointers engage in our Pilot Community Group this spring! It is a blessing to see brothers and sisters in the Lord move toward one another in the church, seeking to be followers who abide, a family that loves, servants who serve, and missionaries who show and tell of the good news.  Interested in learning more about groups? We’re thankful for the opportunity we have to both prayerfully and financially support Shepherd’s Gate Church plant in Peoria. We’re grateful to do that alongside the broader kingdom and various churches. Charis Church in Normal, IL is sending Jon and Sarah Watts out as church planters. Jon was among the pastoral staff at Crosspoint for four years, and Sarah grew up at Crosspoint. We have committed $9000 of mission dollars (March ‘25-February ‘26) toward this work. We are followers who are seeking to abide in Jesus.  One way we abide in Him is through reading and studying His living and active Words in the Bible.  So how encouraging it is to hear of brothers in Christ, intentionally and prayerfully setting aside time to read the Word and discuss it together on a consistent basis. May the Lord bear much fruit!
