As we celebrate 20 years of ministry and mission as a church, we asked the church to share some testimonies of how the Lord has been at work as they have engaged in life at Crosspoint.
Be encouraged by what Steve and Beth Mallory share below…
From Beth Mallory:
Wanted to share how thankful we are to be at Crosspoint. Although we loved and prayed for Crosspoint from the beginning, we started coming here after Steve became a Christ follower some years ago. We wanted to be with family and our surrounding community. I had been going to church in Peoria for a good while and was pretty involved with some ministry things over that way. When we started coming to Crosspoint, for a good while, I lost a sense of purpose and even grieved what I thought was loss. Looking back, I see some really good things that happened because of this and it was Gods grace on our lives. The season in Peoria was good in some aspects but I had somewhat of a warped view of who God was. I was always in a mode of longing and desperation to get God to do something. If I pray, fast, repent , and read my Bible more, maybe God will bring revival to our region. Always wanting and waiting on God. Do good, get good. Basically a works mentality. But then, He took me out of that and I grew in my understanding of Gods grace, His finished work, our identity in Him and His great love for us.I understand now that we are kingdom people and we carry Him with us into every sphere we are involved with. Steve and I being involved in a small group has been really sweet. Being able to share in a safe place scripture understanding and learning together has been a joy along with a great sense of community. I’ve learned that we may not always agree on everything, but we are called to be love. We celebrate along with you the goodness of God and His faithfulness to the first yes in Dave and Heather’s hearts along with that first core group. Dave, you lead with such humility, boldness and love for the body. Heather, you are such an awesome helpmate, and cheerleader for Dave. Dad and I are proud of the yes in your spirits and the call on your lives. We love you always and forever. Yay Jesus💖
From Steve Mallory:
As I think back on how Crosspoint started, being told by Dave and Heather, Matt and Tiffany where their hearts were and what the dream and plan was. It started for us as observers, going to services at Morton when the plan was coming together, visiting at the store front and actually started attending when it was at the middle school. The message I saw in the beginning was trust and faithfulness. One of the biggest things I got out of the early days was “welcome”. I always felt welcomed no matter what location we attended. I didn’t get saved until Crosspoint was at the middle school and we were attending a church in Peoria. When we visited, I always felt welcomed and every time we visited at the middle school, it seemed right to me. I always remember Keith Funk never failed to come over and talk to me as well as others but I had a conversation with him, one Sunday and I asked him why he called Crosspoint home and why he went there. He said a big reason was the way the church had pulled together to circle Kevin and Kristi when they got married and what took place after that when they got hurt. He said that’s when he knew that was where he was supposed to be. At that time I was a new Christian and was looking for my home church. I wanted to be with my kids and we started attending. And now are not only with our kids, but my church family.
