Evidences of God’s Grace: October-December 2024

On a weekly basis in our Sunday program, we share evidences of God’s grace and work in the life of Crosspoint and our community.  Below, are the evidences (October-December 2024) collected into one post. May these lead us to an attitude of thankfulness to and worship of our God who is at work, not only through us, but in us.  You can read past evidences here.

12/29

We rejoice at Crosspointers, Kenzie Heider, Max Stalter, Malachi Sitler, Hunter Miller, and Cara Etheridge who recently went public with their faith in Christ through baptism.  What a joy to see brothers and sisters in Christ seeking to obey all that Jesus taught (Matthew 28:18-20), and publicly testifying to His goodness and grace in their lives!  Praise God, for His Good News continues to change lives!

12/22

What a blessing it is to see free disciplemaking resources taken by Crosspointers and used to encourage and equip us in the faith. From Bibles, to devotionals, to books, and other tools.  And how encouraging it is to then hear of stories like young adults meeting together to work through a devotional, or Crosspointers blessing people they are on mission to with a free Bible.  You can find these resources at Guest Connections, the Bibles and Books shelf near the couches, and near SonChasers check-in.

12/15

In late November, we finished up our Operation Christmas Child mission project!  Thank you to everyone who engaged in this project in some way; from praying, to volunteering at our drop off location or at the SonChasers packing party, to packing your own shoeboxes, to providing donations for SonChasers to pack up boxes.  Thank you church family!  241 boxes were packed by SonChasers and C-20 and the shipping costs ($2410) were covered by our mission fund.  In total, 1237 boxes were collected and sent off through our drop-off location.  Let’s be prayerful.  May the Good News of Jesus spread!

12/8

Recently, a Crosspointer member shared this encouraging note, “I am going to start working on growing better and more in-depth relationships with members in the church.”  How beautiful and encouraging to read of a believer in Christ, seeking to live out their faith in Jesus alongside and in the context of community in the local family of faith.

12/1

Servants of Jesus who serve and love the youngest of Crosspointers in our baby and toddler nurseries are an evidence of grace.  From those who teach little lessons in the toddler side, to those who comfort the sad, clean up the dirty, or play games with the growing ones, we rejoice at how these followers of Jesus love the next generation (and their parents in turn as well).

11/24

As God’s people, we want to be anchored to His Word.  We desire to be rooted in the living and active Scriptures and as Colossians 3:16 calls us, to “Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you.”  So we rejoice when we hear of followers of Jesus who are intentionally memorizing Scripture together, spurring one another toward this good work.

11/17

Since the fall of 2004 (when Crosspoint turned 1), we have been sponsoring Compassion children (Eduardo was our first) through our SonChasers children’s ministry.  Each Sunday, the kids of SonChasers give an offering during their worship time, which goes toward the support of kids.  We have sponsored 15 different kids over the years, and are currently sponsoring 7.  Thank you Lord, for the opportunity to partner with Compassion in the service of kids around the world, and for the many Crosspoint households who are actively supporting children!

11/10

Households who are active in fostering and/or adopting children are an evidence of God’s grace!  We are grateful for how these Moms and Dads are seeking to reflect our Heavenly Father’s heart for children.  Are you prayerfully considering becoming a foster parent, or thinking about adoption?  If so, there are households here that would love to encourage and equip you. Talk to Pastor Dave S. for more details.

11/3

We rejoice at Crosspointer, Tyler Heffren, who recently went public with his faith in Christ through baptism.  What a joy to see brothers and sisters in Christ seeking to obey all that Jesus taught (Matthew 28:18-20), and publicly testifying to His goodness and grace in their lives!  Praise God, for His Good News continues to change lives!

10/27

Praise God when we witness His people stepping out of comfort zones and walking by faith and trust in Him!  For instance: when siblings in the family pursue peace and make right what has gone wrong, when those new and old to Crosspoint take steps toward one anothering community with each other, when worshippers begin to give financially as an act of worship, or when missionaries pray and open their mouths to tell of the goodness of Jesus.

10/20

Gerry Hetz and Ashley Householter are an evidence of God’s grace.  Gerry has served faithfully as our custodian for many years.  She has taken great care of our building and been a behind-the-scenes blessing to the ministry and mission.  We are grateful for her steadfast work.  We’re thankful for Ashley Householter for her willingness and desire to step into being our new custodian this month. Thank you Lord for servants who seek to serve like you.

10/13

Today’s passage from 1 Peter 4 includes these words…“Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.”  Praise God that we see evidences of the people of God living out such truth at Crosspoint, for the glory of Jesus Christ.

10/6

It is an evidence of God’s grace, when we see God’s people loving one another well as family.  For instance, when brothers in Christ rely upon one another to overcome sin, when siblings show up to help someone move, when the people of God grieve with one another in loss and suffering, when the family bears with one another in love, pursuing a spirit of gentleness and humility.  Thank you Father, for calling us to yourself and to one another in your family.
