Evidences of God’s Grace: April – June 2023

On a weekly basis in our Sunday program, we share evidences of God’s grace and work in the life of Crosspoint and our community.  Below, are the evidences (April-June 2023) collected into one post. May these lead us to an attitude of thankfulness to and worship of our God who is at work, not only through us, but in us.  You can read past evidences here.

Today, we celebrate Father’s Day.  Godly fathers are an evidence of God’s grace.  Men who are seeking to have a growing faith in Jesus and a growing humility in Him as well.  Men who are seeking to live under the good and loving authority of Christ, and reflect our Heavenly Father to the generations that follow and the world that surrounds them.  Lord, may you raise up a movement of Christlike men who will live for your glory alone, as a way of life and in all that they do.

We are committed to helping plant churches both locally and globally.  We’re excited to help support Partridge Point Community Church which is a church plant launching in Metamora in fall 2023.  Over the course of 2023 and 2024, we are committing $20,000 toward this new work.  May the Lord cause the growth, as His people plant and water.  May the Lord continue to raise up laborers for His harvest!  May the Lord bless the Bricker’s, Kamm’s and other households who are part of this new work!

Erik and Bree Johnson and their family are an evidence of God’s grace.  Four years ago, in 2019, the Johnson family was actively preparing to plant Redeemer Community Church in Minonk.  That summer, they were moving to Minonk and Erik was stepping out of being on staff at Crosspoint.  We are deeply encouraged by the Johnson family, and their trust and dependence upon the Lord.  He is faithful, and we see His faithfulness and love on display through their family.

5/28

We rejoice at Crosspointers, Mat Sitler, Amy Hinrichsen, Bryce and Erica Spangler, Brian Blunier, and Derek and Kelsey Blunier who recently have gone public with their faith in Christ through baptism.  What a joy to see brothers and sisters in Christ seeking to obey all that Jesus taught (Matthew 28:18-20), and publically testifying to His goodness and grace in their lives!

5/21

In late February, we shared the news that Pastor Dave S. will be taking a sabbatical this summer.  Today is his last Sunday in attendance.  He and Heather will return on August 13.  Dave and Heather are grateful for this gracious gift from the elder team and the support, love and encouragement they have received from the church family.  May the Lord bring about spiritual refreshment and renewal in their lives in the weeks ahead.  Thank you for praying for them.

5/14

On this Mother’s Day, we thank the Lord for the faithful and Jesus-following women in our lives.  In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul wrote this to a young Timothy, “I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and now, I am convinced, is in you also.”  Many of us are following Jesus today, because the women before us (mothers, grandmothers, aunts) showed us and told us what it meant to trust in Jesus.  Thank you Lord for this evidence of your grace!

Becky Williamson is an evidence of God’s grace!  Around 3 years ago, she transitioned from serving as our children’s ministry director for 9 years, to moving into a role that we call, Ministry Coordinator.  This was a new role for our staff, and one that has been necessary for many years.  She has flourished in this role, and is using her administrative gifts for the common good of the Lord’s church.  We’re grateful for how she serves with faith, hope and love.

4/30

Today is Compassion Sunday!  Since the fall of 2004 (when Crosspoint turned 1), we have been sponsoring Compassion children through our SonChasers children’s ministry.  Each Sunday, the kids of SonChasers give an offering during their worship time, which goes toward the support of kids.  We have sponsored 13 different kids over the years, and are currently sponsoring 7 (5 of which we have had since October 2012).  Thank you Lord, for the opportunity to partner with Compassion in the service of kids around the world, and for the many Crosspoint households who are actively supporting children!

4/23

When the church loves one another not just in word, but in action (1 John 3), we rejoice!  Recently a Crosspoint household shared this. “Praise we are just so grateful to be surrounded by such an amazing church family. I am so grateful for Kristi and Kevin Funk for helping facilitate work days at our house to help ease some burden for us.  We feel God’s love through everyone here at church.”

4/16

A little over a year ago, Pastor Dave Wolfe led us in worship for the first time, alongside the Crosspoint team. In the following weeks, as the Spirit led, it was clear to us and to the Wolfe family that the Lord was providing an additional shepherd to join the team at Crosspoint. As a church, we are grateful for God’s provision, and for how the Lord has brought abundant blessing to the Crosspoint family, through the addition of the Wolfe family.

1 Corinthians 1:10 says, Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction.  We rejoice that there is unity among our leadership.  A united, joyful spirit that is of the shared conviction that Jesus is King and His mission to make disciples is worth it.
