July is Crosspoint’s Food Pantry Mission Month!

Crosspoint is one of 12 area churches who support the Eureka Food Pantry.

We will collect food all five Sundays in July!  Food donation bags will be available at Guest Connections which you can pick up to fill and return on Sundays or you can simply place donated items in the Food Pantry box at the back of the church.  The City of Eureka will also be having a food pantry float in the July 4th parade, and you can bring food to place onto the float that morning.

Items of particular need are macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups and vegetables, spaghetti and sauce, and canned fruit.  Expired items cannot be accepted.

The food pantry serves individuals residing in the District 140 area – the communities of Eureka, Goodfield and Congerville.  The pantry is located at 106 N. Callender in Eureka and is open each Wednesday morning.  In 2015, the pantry served 133 adults and 81 children,  or 86 families, on average, each month.  The demand has already been greater each month in 2016 – and is always increased during the summer months when school children do not have access to school breakfast and lunch.

If your garden has extra bounty this summer, the Food Pantry is willing to distribute small quantities of fresh produce to its clients.   Produce can be placed on Wednesday mornings before 9AM at the back door of the pantry.  Please keep in mind that there is no refrigeration available and the pantry is only open and staffed one morning a week.

Ongoing throughout the year, you can support the Eureka Food Pantry by taking any reusable cloth bag to Eureka IGA for your shopping.  IGA will donate 5 cents to the Pantry for each bag at checkout.  Care for the environment and help those in need in our community.

Thank you for supporting this local mission!
