10 Years of the Lord’s Faithfulness

We’ve been in our current location for 10 years now.  Over 500 Sunday mornings, let alone countless other types of gatherings.  For those of you who were at Crosspoint in 2012 (and prior) and to those who have joined in during the past 10 years, I simply want to remind you of this truth.  The Lord is faithful!

  • When the Lord grew, strengthened and established His church in a local storefront and a mobile space of the middle school…the Lord was faithful.
  • When a building and property were provided at just the right time…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Lord provided so generously and above and beyond what we imagined…the Lord was faithful.
  • When God’s people showed up to pray, to give, to work, and to gather in preparation for the move…the Lord was faithful.
  • When new people walked in the doors of a renovated space to find a home…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we went to two services for a year, and then when we returned to one…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the building purchase and renovation were paid off in full and we were debt free…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we sent out missionaries and welcomed them home…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we walked through conflict, tension and disagreement…the Lord was faithful.
  • When brothers and sisters in Christ left to go to other churches…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Lord expanded our staff…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we announced births, adoptions, engagements, and marriages…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we shared family news of suffering, disease, or death…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we gathered for weddings and funerals…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we baptized believers and celebrated God’s saving goodness and grace in their lives…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we dedicated children to the Lord and saw parents commit themselves to be disciplemakers at home…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we remembered the Lord’s selfless sacrifice of His body and blood…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Word was preached and taught…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the people of God served and engaged in the ministry of His Body of Christ…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we were unsure of how financial needs would be met…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we have seen well over a hundred brothers and sisters in Christ move to other states…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the vision of planting a new church with fellow partnering churches began and then was fulfilled…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Lord sent out staff members to new kingdom callings…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Lord raised up new servants and leaders and sustained and strengthened old ones…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we saw and testified to evidences of God’s grace…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the gathering size increased, decreased, or stayed the same…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we walked through Covid and all of its unknowns and adjustments…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we gathered outside, inside, in two services and then back to one…the Lord was faithful.
  • When staff transitioned to new roles…the Lord was faithful.
  • When the Lord provided the new backyard space and shed at just the right time…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we sought the Lord to bring in another pastor to join our team…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we asked of the Lord to enable our work to be produced by faith, our labor to be motivated by love, and our endurance to be inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess 1:3)…the Lord was faithful.
  • When we requested of the Lord to sanctify us and grow us up in Christlikeness through all these various years and seasons…the Lord was faithful.

Over and over, through the testimony of the Scriptures, to the history of the New Testament church, to the short history of our church (19 years, the last 10 of which in the building); what we see is that the Lord is forever faithful to His people.  He is our Chief Shepherd, and this church will forever be built on Him as the cornerstone.  He is able, He is good, He is at work, and He will get all the glory.

We exist to bring glory to God by making disciples of Jesus who live devoted to Him, dedicated to one another and driven to reach people.

Finally, consider and dwell on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24, as we both look backward in gratitude, and look forward in hope and expectation.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 (CSB) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Don’t stifle the Spirit. 20 Don’t despise prophecies, 21 but test all things. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. And may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will do it.
