She is Safe: August 18 @ Crosspoint

This coming Sunday (August 18 @ 9am and 10:30am), we will be continuing our new series called Reminders.  This Sunday’s message will be a reminder of our vision which says that we are ‘driven to reach people.’  And you will not want to miss it!

In September, we will be beginning to support the mission organization, She is Safe, who works to prevent, rescue and restore women and girls from abuse and exploitation in high risk places around the world, equipping them to build a life of freedom, faith and a strong future.  This is just one area that we are expanding into with our missions work.

In the Crosspoint Living Room on Sunday, we’ll have some guests with us who work with She is Safe, and they will be sharing the heart behind this ministry, and reminding us of God’s heart for the nations and the oppressed.  I believe it will be a timely reminder for us as we approach our 10 year celebration!

Bob Knapp is the West Africa Director for She Is Safe.  He works closely with indigenous organizations to prevent, rescue and restore victims.  Bob and his wife, Sandi, served in Haiti in the 80’s, multiple countries in Europe, and then India with Operation Mobilization (OM) and Youth With A Mission (YWAM) through evangelism and church planting.  Bob has been recognized as a leader, serving as elder and International Ministries Pastor for Eastview Christian Church in Normal for several years.

Also with us in the Crosspoint Living Room will be Pastor Nouh & Fati Yattara from Mali, West Africa.  They will be sharing their story and heart behind how the Lord has worked in their life and the mission and work that He has called them to.  I heard Pastor Nouh speak recently at another event, and I can tell you that you will not want to miss it.

I believe it is vitally important for us as a church to reflect the heart of God.  God’s Word speaks often of His heart for the afflicted, broken, and hurting.  Here are just a few examples…

Psalm 10:17-18:  17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear 18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.

Psalm 82:3-4:  Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.  Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Micah 6:8:  He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

So Crosspoint, I’ll see you at either 9am or 10:30am this Sunday, as we will be reminded of the God we serve, and the mission that He has called us to join Him on.

Looking forward to it already!

Dave
