Why I serve – Rachel Brooks

Around Crosspoint, our volunteers truly are at the heart of what we do.  Without our volunteers, God-glorifying, life-changing ministry just wouldn’t happen.  So why do our volunteers serve?  Why do they join Jesus in His invitation to be a part of a mission that is greater than themselves?

Here is one testimony from Rachel Brooks, who serves in SonChasers helping to teach the Kindergarten and 5 year olds…

I served a lot behind the scenes when my kids were babies where our schedule would allow.  As they grew older, I felt like I wanted to branch out more, but wasn’t sure in what capacity.  The opportunity opened up to teach Kindergarten and 5 year olds.  My kids are 7 and almost 5 and I was excited to be back with them in SonChasers.  The crazy screaming always seemed so mysterious coming from the back so I thought I would join the fun!  I love that I get to learn new things right along with the 5 year olds!!!  Of course, a short attention span mixed with too many Sunday morning donuts can occasionally make the learning part a little challenging for our 5 year olds 🙂  There have been a few occasions when there are tears or unsure feelings when a little one is dropped off in our classroom, but when there are smiles by the end of our time together I know I am right where God wants me to be.  I truly love teaching this age with their funny little personalities and enjoy each Sunday morning I get to be with them!
