Why We Give – “God, we trust you to take care of us.”

God calls us to be generous with the money He has given to us.  We are to generously, faithfully, and cheerfully store up our treasure in Heaven, and invest it into God’s work in God’s Kingdom.  Here is a testimony from a Crosspoint household who is giving to God’s work in and through the ministry of Crosspoint…

Having a heart of obedience is something that God is continually growing us in.  As a young married couple 12 years ago, we decided to give 10% of our income regularly as a part of our worship.  This giving was not a huge sacrifice as a two income couple.  When our first child was born, and our income was halved it was a bit more challenging! It was tempting to look at the new income and new expenses, and decrease the amount that we gave, but we truly desired to obey the Lord in this area.  Although it was not easy, we continued to give 10%.  Over the years, we have continued to give regularly.  As our family has grown so has our faith and trust in God’s provision.  This is not a testimony to our greatness by any means.  God has met our needs over and over again.  We give because everything we have is a gift from Him, and we want to give back as a way to worship Him and thank Him for every good gift He has given us.  It is in essence saying, “God, we trust you to take care of us.”  We cheerfully give to God and to our church because it keeps us dependent on Him.  “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
