God calls us to be generous with the money He has given to us. We are to generously, faithfully, and cheerfully store up our treasure in Heaven, and invest it into God’s work in God’s Kingdom. Here is a testimony from a Crosspoint household who is giving to God’s work in and through the ministry of Crosspoint…
We have always felt that the Bible is clear on giving; we are to give a tenth of our first fruits back to God. After all, it is His money that He has made us stewards of. We haven’t always tithed; in the beginning of our marriage, tithing was a “last fruits” exercise more than the “first fruits” exercise commanded in God’s word, and we didn’t make a habit of prioritizing giving. We first started giving regularly when we heard a sermon on giving and the effect it had on the lives of the ministry staff at Crosspoint. At that moment we saw how our giving can have a positive impact on others, even though we weren’t giving to them specifically. As we started to give more regularly, we had to trust in God that He would provide for any unknown financial need, but we also needed to trust that God would help us become better stewards of the finances He provided us. In the beginning, tithing was difficult because we could see what the money could go towards in other areas, more of an obligation of tithing compared to how our giving is now. God worked in our hearts to have faith when giving and we have enjoyed giving to Him what He has blessed us with.
