Why We Give – ‘the blessing of seeing lives changed’

God calls us to be generous with the money He has given to us.  We are to generously, faithfully, and cheerfully store up our treasure in Heaven, and invest it into God’s work in God’s Kingdom.  Here is a testimony from a Crosspoint household who is giving to God’s work in and through the ministry of Crosspoint…

I think the key for us is that we learned from our parents who were committed to giving, and we committed to giving when we first got married and well before we were in our professions.  We also stayed committed to giving during the most difficult financial times of our lives.  This has never been easy, but we have been convicted to do so.  To us, we felt that if we stopped giving during the toughest times then we were not trusting God, and then we were really only giving God what was excess in our lives.

Early in our marriage I heard a sermon about giving, and a verse from the sermon has stuck with me probably as much or more than any verse in the Bible.

Malachi 3:10:  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

God has always provided for us!!!  Also, the blessings we have received by giving are amazing.  I’m not talking about financial blessings, but the blessing of seeing lives changed and seeing others blessed as well.

We don’t look at our tithe as an obligation or a “bill” that has to be paid, but instead we consider it a way we are blessed.
