On June 2, we announced that Kent Hinrichsen was joining the Crosspoint staff as our new Youth and College Pastor. You can read the FAQ here. Since that announcement, Kent and his girlfriend, Amber Penick, have gotten engaged. Kent officially begins at Crosspoint on September 9. We are so excited for both Kent and Amber to be among the Crosspoint family, as we seek to make disciples of Jesus who live 3D together.
Get to know Amber…
Hello, my name is Amber, I am 25. I grew up in Brimfield, Illinois with an older sister, Jasmine, and two younger twin brothers, Jack and Travis. Growing up I attended Bethany Baptist when it was small and on Knoxville in Peoria. Now it is a lot bigger and we reside on Heinz Lane near Kickapoo. My first year of college was spent at Olivet Nazarene University and upon God showing me that He didn’t want me to be there I attended ICC for the next couple of years. After ICC I finished my college degree at OSF St. Francis College of Nursing. I currently work at St. Francis as a nurse and have been there for about two and a half years. I am starting a new job in the Neurosurgery operating room as a surgical nurse this August.
Get to know Kent…
I was born on Aug. 15, 1995 to my lovely parents Rod and Lynda Hinrichsen. I have three siblings, Kyle (who is married to Angie), Kate, and Kurt. I grew up in Goodfield, IL and was raised in the Goodfield Apostolic Church. After graduating from Eureka High School in 2014, I attended ICC for one year which is when I started attending Crosspoint Community Church. After my one year at ICC, I transferred to Moody Bible Institute and graduated from their in May 2019. While at Moody Bible, I fulfilled my internship requirement at Crosspoint Community Church during the summer of 2017. For the past year I have been a youth pastor at Abundant Life Community Church in Hammond, IN as well as an assistant chaplain to the Gary Railcats (independent professional baseball team). I am super excited to move back to central IL this September and be the Youth and College Pastor at Crosspoint!!
Our story…
Our paths first crossed when we were at ICC together. We both joined a college ministry named Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ). It was in that college ministry that we became good friends and got to know one another really well. But at the end of that year Kent went off to school at Moody Bible in Chicago and Amber entered nursing school at OSF, so communication was sparse for three years since we were just friends at the time.
We got reconnected last August of 2018 and have been dating since October of 2018, now engaged, and plan to get married in February! We are very excited! There are a lot of changes happening in each of our lives during this season of life, but we believe that each step is a step that God wants us to take. Each decision we have saturated in prayer, including getting married, living in Central Illinois, both of our new jobs, and making Crosspoint our home church. We are so excited to be a part of the Crosspoint family.
We love ministry, we love Jesus, and we love people. We cannot wait to meet all of you!
