On Sunday, February 9, we are moving back to one service at 10am. Here are some encouragements regarding the move.
For the most part, these encouragements can be summed up with a Philippians 2 kind of attitude.
Philippians 2:3-4: 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
They are about putting others before ourselves. About considering the needs of others.
Parents, avoid the 9:55 check-in rush.
If you have a child or children that are in SonChasers, then get to the service 15-20 minutes before it is begins. SonChasers Check-in will be open by 9:40am. When children arrive late, they have missed quality time with their teacher(s), have possibly missed intro activities that actually take place prior to 10am, and the SonChasers hallway can get clogged up with lots of people.
So if you call Crosspoint your church home, we encourage you to especially get there early so that our guests who might arrive closer to 10am, don’t have to wait in a longer line. “in humility value others above yourselves”
In the Living Room, scoot up and to the middle.
Think back to when you visited other churches. There was a sense of the unknown the minute you hit the parking lot. What door do we go in, what will happen then, if I have kids, where do they go, will we find a seat, and if so, will we have to sit up front?
If you call Crosspoint your church home, don’t sit in the back rows. Scoot up toward the front, and leave the back rows open for people who may arrive late or who may be our guests who would not desire to sit in the front row on their first or second Sunday. And also scoot toward the middle of the rows. Leave the ends open for those who are running late or who are our guests. When everyone is standing and singing, it can be difficult to find seats in the middle of the rows, and it is much easier to find them along the aisles. So scoot up and to the middle. “in humility value others above yourselves”
In reality, our Sunday service begins at 9:45.
We encourage you to arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the service. Whether you have children or not, that time allows you to catch your breath if the morning has been harried, check in children if you have them, talk to fellow Crosspointers, and to introduce yourself to someone new. It allows you some margin in your morning so that when the music begins, you’re already in your seat ready to engage in singing and worship. 15 minutes of margin gives you an opportunity to quiet your heart, to anticipate the Lord working in your life that morning, to be ready and prepared to hear from Him. If nothing else, as you find your seat, simply pray to the Father … “Lord, I’m here. Speak to me, teach me, change me.”
Over the course of the past 10 months of two services, 59% of Crosspoint have shown they can get to a service that starts at 9am. So 10am should be a piece of cake…
See you this Sunday!
BTW…we’ll also have 300 glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme available this Sunday. So come early to build relationships in the Living Room foyer.
