Why we serve – Mark and Robin Honeg

Around Crosspoint, our volunteers truly are at the heart of what we do.  Without our volunteers, God-glorifying, life-changing ministry just wouldn’t happen.  So why do our volunteers serve?  Why do they join Jesus in His invitation to be a part of a mission that is greater than themselves?

Here is one testimony from Mark and Robin Honeg, who serve on one of our First Impressions teams…

Top ten reasons we serve on a first impression team:

#10  —   Helps us to get to church before the third song.

# 9   —   The name tags are really cool!

# 8  —    Listening to the band rehearse is like being at a private concert.

# 7  —    You get to high five all the little kids as they come in the door.

#6  —     We get to read the bulletin first.

#5   —    Fresh coffee.    #noline   #refills

#4   —    It puts us in a good mood the rest of the day.

#3  —     No practice required and smiles are free.

#2  —     We get the privilege of welcoming new people into the Living Room for their first time!  And we get to say welcome back to all of those that are already Crosspointers!

And the #1 reason we serve on a First Impressions team —  1 Peter 4:10 -11

We are “people” people.  We like letting visitors know they matter to God and to Crosspoint!  It is one way God allows us to use the spiritual gift he has given both of us.  As a couple, serving God through welcoming and greeting others, is not a task.  It is a blessing!   We understand that not everyone is in a good spot when they come to church.  Often people are burdened or sad.  In a bad mood.  Have a heavy heart.  Or just wish they were back in bed.  Yet each person, whether new to Crosspoint or not, hopes that their time in church will be enlightening and encouraging.   We like being that first connection to Crosspoint as people enter.  To set the tone with a handshake, a smile, and a deliberate consideration in their day.   Assisting the church in this capacity is a way for us to receive God’s unconditional love and in turn, extend that same unconditional love to others.   We are so thankful that God uses us in this way.
