Around Crosspoint, our volunteers truly are at the heart of what we do. Without our volunteers, God-glorifying, life-changing ministry just wouldn’t happen. So why do our volunteers serve? Why do they join Jesus in His invitation to be a part of a mission that is greater than themselves?
Here is one testimony from Chris Troyer who serves on one of Crosspoint’s First Impression teams…
During my working life, talking with many people was a big part of my job. After I retired, I found myself getting more and more quiet. The Lord truly led me to Crosspoint Community Church and the friendly fellowship began to bring out the talkative Chris once again. I still don’t usually ramble on like I used to, but it will come. 🙂
When I signed on to help with First Impressions, it only took one Sunday for me to realize that I don’t even know who had been coming to this church for many years before I did or if these people walking through that door were coming for their first visit. So, I decided instead of saying ‘Welcome to Crosspoint,’ I would smile with the community’s first impression and say, ‘Welcome, so happy to see you here today!” 🙂
I pray that the Lord will use my smile and a kind word to help someone who might have had a bad day.
I do feel blessed to serve the community in this way and as one Guidepost author says, “Thank you Lord for sowing seeds of your glory that may take root and flourish in someone’s heart today.”
