Why I serve – Cheri Boles

Around Crosspoint, our volunteers truly are at the heart of what we do.  Without our volunteers, God-glorifying, life-changing ministry just wouldn’t happen.  So why do our volunteers serve?  Why do they join Jesus in His invitation to be a part of a mission that is greater than themselves?

Here is one testimony from Cheri Boles who serves as a large group teacher in SonChasers…

I had wanted to teach large group long before I got a spot.  I had done worship in SonChasers and loved interacting with all the kids.  I always had ideas in my head on activities that could engage the kids, but worship wasn’t the arena to do them.  When a spot opened up, I jumped at the chance!  I really enjoy getting to introduce the “big ideas” that the teachers will expand upon in small groups.  I also love interacting with the kids during games and hearing their honest answers to questions either I or the curriculum pose.  It’s especially fun because there is a wide age range in Large Group.  My favorite thing, however, is when I see the kids outside of church (especially the younger ones).  Sometimes, they point and me and say “hey, I know you”!!  I’ll point back and say “I know you too!!!”.  It helps me realize we have an impact on them that lasts outside of the church walls.  It’s about building relationships with them and in turn their families.  The goal is to effect them for Jesus in every area of their life.  I also remind them that all the teachers truly love and care about them and if they ever have questions, or are not sure what their next steps are they can talk to us.
