God calls us to be generous with the money He has given to us. We are to generously, faithfully, and cheerfully store up our treasure in Heaven, and invest it into God’s work in God’s Kingdom. Here are two testimonies from Crosspointers who are giving to God’s work in and through the ministry of Crosspoint. Be encouraged! God is forever faithful to His people! So why do you give?
We have discovered that the gift of giving is one of the greatest gifts from God. We give first because God commands us to give of our first fruits (Prov. 3:9). The Bible teaches that this is part of being obedient to the Lord. A very wise older man once challenged us to try and out-give The Lord. He told us “when you learn the secret of giving” that is when the Lord will really work miracles in your life. We have seen the Lord provide in so many areas of our life after our yielding to this command. He has blessed us both spiritually as well as financially. The Lord has taught us that He will provide and that He wants us to be completely dependent upon Him and anything else would be disobedience. He wants all of us not just part of us. There have been many times that we had very little in our checking account but we knew that God had called us to tithe of our first fruits. When we give as The Lord leads, He always provides in ways that have surprised us. We have always given out of obedience to the Lord but we soon realized that obedience turned into blessing! We have come to realize that giving is one of the greatest Blessings in our life.
We give because it matters! It matters to God first and foremost but it also matters to our own hearts. Our hearts are outwardly focused if we continue to give a portion of our finances. We find joy in our tithing.
We have always given to our church home but it always hasn’t been smooth and easy. There has been financial hardships and even as I type this, there are unexpected bills that have poured in over the last few months. Sure it would be simple to just put the nix on our tithe and put it towards the bills. Being completely honest we have talked about this in the past but we pressed on. God has always given us enough to tithe, even though each week through the hard times it hasn’t been the most consistent.
God has taught us, looking back, to always give cheerfully and through that frame of heart, we find rest and peace knowing as we give back to God, His Will is accomplished in areas we cannot comprehend.
