As you read this blog post, we each have various things on our minds and hearts. Some things were very trivial and momentary, such as the to-do list for the day, or the upcoming event this week that we are preparing for at work or in life.
And yet some of us, if not many of us, have some weighty things on our hearts.
- An entangling sin that you can’t seem to shake.
- A broken relationship that is need of healing.
- Some sort of sickness or disease that you’re dealing with.
- Maybe you’re waiting on the Lord in some way. Maybe it has been a long time of waiting too.
- Or maybe the circumstances around you just don’t seem favorable.
The prophet Habakkuk wrote of such a time in his life…
Habakkuk 3:17-19
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines,
though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls,
18 yet I will celebrate in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!
19 The Lord my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights!
Though this is happening right now…whether in my own heart or in the world around me…
Though this…might seem weighty right now…
Though this has occurred or is occurring that doesn’t seem to the eye to be very encouraging…
I will celebrate in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. I will worship Him, for He is worthy and He is forever faithful, good and true.
Dear ones, no matter what kind of circumstances we are walking in today, no matter what the status is of our orchards, vineyards, flocks and herds…
May we lift our eyes to and fix our attention on the Lord who is our strength, our hope, and all together good in every way. Though this…we, as God’s people, will worship.
