From Kevin Funk…
As I sit here during the ride home from Miracle Camp, I’m trying to figure out how I can pack about 100 memories and takeaways into my blog.
Let me start with the man who poured out his heart to more than 350 men this weekend. Ron Hutchcraft. As all of us men can attest to, Ron is passionate for Jesus. We had four different church sessions throughout the weekend and everyone of them had different ways of challenging us as men. To learn more about Ron and his ministry please go to www.hutchcraft.com. He is advancing the kingdom of God in many ways.
I’ve been invited to go to Miracle Camp three years in a row and I finally planned to head up with the guys and see for myself what all the hype is about. Can I just say if you are a man that wants to grow closer to God while being in fellowship with a bunch of men that love Jesus and having a blast doing so…..will you consider going with us next year?
One of the best highlights I want to tap into is our small group time after the service on Saturday night. We all had signed up for the zip line so as we headed from the chapel to our cabin we decided to spend a little time and talk about what God was laying on all of our hearts that night. We could have all just walked back to the cabin and got some warmer clothes on and went to go zip lining but God had different plans. We talked and shared and prayed together. We encouraged each other. We grew closer to God and each other in that moment. Lots of iron sharpening iron in the cabin.
This blog isn’t just a plug for men. It’s an encouragement to set aside at least one weekend a year to get away from the daily grind. A time to get away from all the distractions that steal away our precious time God gives us to glorify Him in all we do. A time to hear from your Creator so you can realign whatever has gone by the wayside during the past year or so.
God has challenged me to make Him apart of EVERY day. I mean how often have I heard that throughout my spiritual journey? What’s different this time I believe was how it was delivered. Ron Hutchcraft was dynamic and unforgettable. As he spoke he emphasized to make the time with God every day a non-negotiable! As he pumped his fist in a downward motion multiple times, it sunk in. He also pointed out the fact that the first voice we should hear when we wake up is God’s voice. I have been in the habit lately of downloading a certain podcast first thing in the morning and sometimes forgetting or running out of time to open my bible. Talk about a backwards way of doing things. If you fall into the devil’s lie of “not having enough time” I would ask you to reevaluate your priorities and schedule. I know I will!
To the guys that I got to know a little more this weekend, I need you to know that I am TRULY blessed to have each and every one of you in my life. GO M.A.D.!!!! (Make A Difference)
