T-E-A-M

Team:  a group of people who work together; a group of players forming one side in a competitive game or sport[i]; a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project.  Team members operate with a high degree of interdependence, share authority and responsibility for self-management, are accountable for the collective performance, and work toward a common goal and shared reward(s).  A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members. Synonyms:  organization, squad, unit, band, body, bunch, gang, troupe
Antonyms:  individual, single, one

Pretty wordy, right?

Put another way: Each believer has received a gift that manifests the Spirit’s power and presence. That gift is given for the good of the whole community…One Spirit works all these things in each of them individually as He sees fit.  Just as a body is one whole made up of many different parts, and all the different parts comprise the one body, so it is with the Anointed One…God has meticulously put this body together; He placed each part in the exact place to perform the exact function He wanted.  If all members were a single part, where would the body be?  So now, many members function within the one body. [1 Corinthians 12]

SonChasers volunteers, YOU are a TEAM!  You are all working for the same goal [to share the Good News!], competing for life-change in children and families [yes, the enemy is competing against you][iii].  And you are stronger TOGETHER!  You each bring unique talents and experiences that are to be shared for the benefit of everyone.  Is there a classroom situation you’re not sure how to handle?  Ask a fellow teacher.  Do you need encouragement in arriving on time?  Invite a teammate to hold you accountable.  The benefits of TEAM are endless, greatest of which is the blessing of serving whole-heartedly devoted to Jesus and dedicated to one another.  “For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift – not from works, so that no one can boast.  For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:8-10

[iii] Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him and be firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.  1 Peter 5:8-9  Holman Christian Standard Bible
